Well, it looks like another NHL season might be lost in 2012-2013 under the reign of the mighty midget, Gary Bettman.
The CBA is up for re-negotiation this year, and the team owners and the NHLPA (players’ association) can’t get on the same page, to say the least. The NHL owners want to roll back players’ salaries by 24 percent, drop their revenue sharing amount from 57 to 46 percent, limit player / team contracts to 5 years, not allow a player to become an unrestricted free agent until he has played in the league for 10 years, and there are a number of other issues to be worked out. The NHLPA presented an alternative offer to the NHL that they viewed as a compromise, that would maintain strong economic health among the NHL and its teams… and yet again, the NHL and Gary Bettman would not meet them half way.
At this point in time, Don Fehr – the head of the players’ association – and little shit for brains Gary Bettman are scheduled to meet again next Wednesday. And the deadline for negotiations is September 15th. If an agreement isn’t met by then, there will be a lockout in the 2012-2013 season. For how long, we don’t know. But we do know that this will be the THIRD lockout under Gary Bettman’s reign. And get this… Buttman’s salary and compensation last year was close to $8 million… more than double what it was before the 2004-2005 lockout!!!! And he wants players to take a cut. Unbelievable. Obviously he doesn’t walk the talk.
Bettman’s ego has gotten ahold of him, and once again the almighty dollar is ruling his brain… he is prepared to enter into a third war with the NHLPA and ruin another season of hockey for all of the dedicated, die-hard fans out there. And furthermore, hurt local economies acros North America. What happens to your favorite hockey bar during a lockout season, and its workers???! Not good. All of this, just so that fat cat owners behind their executive desks can have a few more million dollars in their bank account, allowing them to sip a few more martinis every day, own a couple more houses, maybe another plane, and add that 1950s Ferrari to their collection of 50 automobiles.
If a lockout happens in the 2012-2013 season, it will definitely be at the top of our top ten list of reasons why Gary Bettman should be fired. We should probably update that list… there are probably a million wonderful reasons to fire him at this point.
Bettman, get your head out of the owners’ asses (or pockets) and give players and fans what they want… another great season of the best sport on earth.
Sorry but I feel Bettman needs to move onto the NBA or NFL or better yet the MLB where he can rattle other major leagues with his strategic rhetoric?! He is a bit smug for Canadiana! I almost think he is using this as a legacy platform to help the others?! I am rarely wrong in future predictions. Let me be your snow globe.. lol
I wonder if Bettman knows that if he died tomorrow, there would be people dancing in the streets. This guy has just done his level best to p!ssoff a whole country, and like that little dweeb, who sat 2 seats in front of you in math class, he never turns his head around to see the rest of the class wanting to wring his little know-it-all neck. Nose in the air, and oblivious to any other person in the room.

Rather than name, I’m using Twitter handle (@geduffer). This jackass makes me sick. He’s a bald-faced liar and insults the fans by blatantly taking them for granted. Every fan should rise up and cancel season tickets, boycott NHL sponsors and e-mail Bettman at gbettman@nhl.com and let him know just what you think of him. I did, but keep it clean and courteous. Don’t sink to that rat bastard’s level. If you join Twitter, you can follow me, also @NoHockeyLockout, @UnFollowSept15, and several other people who will give you the real story. Ramp up the pressure and hit them in the pocketbook. They can only pull this off if we enable them.
Here’s an idea: the players accept the 47 % revenue sharing on the condition that Bettman step down immediately.
Nobody hates Bettamn more than me – a new your lawyer running the NHL because he knew he’d never get to be head of the NBA. His knowledsge of hockey both on the ice and historically is pitiful.

3 lockouts (unless this one gets averted)
steals Quebec Nordiques ande Winnipeg Jets but does everything he can to save franchises in southern us states.
Does anyone want to see him fired more than me? Absolutely not
But I want him in Quebec when the Nordiques finally return and there’s a real Montreal-Quebec rivalry again. I want him there telling (lying thru his american teeth) everyone how happy he is to see hockey back in Quebec City in the worst broken French possible. Especially when he was the bastard who gave them no support so they could move to Denver.
Then have Mario Lemieux step up – a modern Jean Beliveau of a man – and in perfect French and perfect English he announces that he has been named the new commissioner of the NHL. Now that would be a great day for hockey!!!
Do you honestly think anyone believes you have any interest in making a deal Gary? You are by far the worst PRESIDENT (I refuse to use the Americanized word commissioner) in the history of sport, you are a perfect example of why everyone hates lawyers. You don’t get boo’d because its tradition to boo the head man, you get boo’d because you are the most hated man (and I use that term loosely) in NHL history. Hockey is a religion to its fans, you are the Jim Baker of that religion, you have taken something holy and defiled it into a faceless corporate monolith, I pay to watch a sport not a 2 1/2 hour infomercial. Do us all a favour, resign and take Daly and Campbell with you, you guys are so crooked you could eat soup with a corkscrew, the obvious game management through corrupt reffing is so obvious you have sunk the NHL below the WWE in terms of believability. The NHL nor its sponsors or any business your crooked owners have a stake in will see one penny of my money again.
