A New Deal?

FireBettman.com - a site dedicated to getting rid of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman - is for sale. Click here.On Tuesday, our favorite mental midget and the NHL put forth a revised proposal for the NHLPA (players’ association). While details weren’t officially released, it is said that the new proposal increases the players’ revenue sharing from the earlier proposed 43 percent, to 51.6 percent in the first year, and then slowly declines each year after that. Furthermore, no rollbacks on existing contracts would have to take place. The salary cap would start off at $58 million in 2012-2013, and could increase up to $71 million in 2017-2018, as it would be a six year deal.

There’s no word about whether or not any other details from this recent proposal… specifically, if limiting player / team contracts to 5 years, not allowing a player to become an unrestricted free agent until he has played in the league for 10 years, etc … are still part of it. We’re sure things like this, that might seem minor, will be large negotiation points moving forward.

Buttman and Donald Fehr – the NHLPA’s executive director – are scheduled to meet again today, August 29th. We’ll see what happens.

We like user RedCent’s idea and comment on our previous post… “the players accept the 47 % revenue sharing on the condition that Bettman step down immediately”. Amen.

Here’s hoping to a Bettman-less 2012-2013 season!!!

Every year as a kid I Would look forward to the All Star Game and Skills Competition until Gary Bettman turned it into some Disney on Ice homosexual freakshow. We are gonna have Drake play for people who like Hockey ? Yeah good call Douchebag. I understand Hockeys a family thing and im not calling for a bloodbath but you have pussified our sport to the max players are scared to play physical because they know they will get 2 minutes from your team of nazis you call referees you have turned our sport into a PG mickey mouse piece of poop you try stuffing Sidney Crosby down every ones throat like he is the second coming and under utilize key talents like Pavel Datsyuk and Evengi Malkin (the guy who carried Crosbys team on his back this year) and no one fights anymore or protects key players because key players have nothing to worry about because no one can get hit anymore you have adjusted the rules for sissy europeans. Ratings are down because their are no longer any interesting rivalries you have stolen one year from our sport (2004) dont take another you grimey corporate piece of poo Suck my d*** Adolf Bettman

I am glad I am not the only one that feels so strongly about firing Bettman. So seriously guys, how do we get rid of him? Anyone know a hitman? I don’t have much money but I would spend every last dime to get rid of him. This may be the only way. I am soooooo sick of seeing his bobble head on tv and him saying there s no deal cause the NHLPA didn’t make much changes to their proposal. Well isn’t it time that he makes some changes?

Grate speech, Gary. You fucking prick. There wouldn’t even be talk of a lockout if it weren’t for your fucking prick strategy with Phx/like markets. If you would get your dick out of the frigging way, maybe we would see some fucking progress.

To the NHL Board of Governors
    August 21, 2012

    Gentlemen:

Since Mr. Bettman, better known as Little Napoleon among fans (remember us? The ones who supply all the money you are greedily squabbling over) has delivered his ultimatium to the players on your behalf, I feel I need to deliver one of my own on the fans behalf. Until the following conditions are met, neither the NHL nor its sponsors, who will also be getting a copy of this letter, will see one penny of my money, I have better things to spend it on than enriching a bunch of arrogant, greedy, corrupt, lying hypocrites.

    1) The NHL head office will be returned to the City of Montreal where the NHL and possibly the game itself was born.

2)The awards ceremony will be returned to the City of Toronto

3)There will be an immediate end to the Phoenix Coyotes charade, does Greg Jamison have the money to purchase and operate the team, yes or no, no other answer is acceptable.

4)The Stanley Cup is controlled by the Trustees not the NHL, the NHL does not own or LEGALLY control it as trustees cannot turn control over to another party without the consent of the person who entrusted it to them.

5)The NHL does not have the right to refuse a challenge for the cup from another league, only the Trustees can decide that.

6)NHL champions from 1973 through 1979 are to be removed from the cup and replaced by the WHA champions, the NHL forpheted the cup those years by refusing to play, violating Lord Stanley’s terms.

    7) Immediate dismissal of Gary Bettman, Bill Daly, and Colin Campbell, on this there can be no negotiation. Recommended replacements, Bob Nicholson, Ken Dryden and David Branch.

A while back I contacted one of the general managers and asked him how Gary Bettman keeps his job. He implied that Gary’s bosses are the owners, so in my opinion if you want to get rid of him you have to appeal to the owners. At this point I’m not sure who is in who’s pocket. Does Gary run the owners or do the owners run Gary. It is such a sad state of affairs that the SPORT of hockey has come to this. It no longer has much resemblance to a true sport. For the owners (and gary) it’s completely about money. The love of the sport is not in their vocabulary. Frankly, I would love to see him fired but I just don’t see how that is going to happen. I think the only way is if there was tremendous pressure from the fans. So….we need to get everyone on board. Maybe via youtube? Let me ponder that a while.

Let’s face it, any middle-aged man (Bettman’s 60+) who makes $8 million a year in salary is concerned about one thing: himself and his enrichment in retirement. It’s one thng to be pro athlete and entertain people for that kind of money. But a windbag lawyer from NY. Get lost. When he speaks just switch channels as fast as possible.
