Hockey Hero?

Will Jim Balsillie become a hero of hockey and the savior of the NHL later today? Both Balsillie and the NHL await the decision of Judge Redfield T. Baum on Mr. Balsillie’s $212.5-million US bid to buy the Phoenix Coyotes and relocate the franchise to Hamilton… with the ruling expected to come later today.

The Judge heard from both sides earlier in the week. The major outcome of the proceedings was that the NHL could probably charge Balsillie a relocation fee to move the team from Phoenix to Hamilton. This fee could be at least $100 million, which would create an easy $300+ million price tag for the desert team.

If this is the case and it’s as simple as this (which we highly doubt)… we say WRITE THE CHECK BALSILLIE!!! Just get the deal done and move on!! If he wants this team and wants this for Canada enough, he can and will do it.

In other news… Balsillie and his MakeItSeven movement have chosen June 19th as Make It Seven Day in Canada!

I read where June 18 is “Make it 5 day” by moving the Leafs to the AHL.

Balsillie will never get a team - unless he starts his own. He has made too many enemies within the NHL.

Hopefully the decision comes through just before Bettman goes on the ice to hand Crosby the Cup tonight…that would be delicious! The disappointment and anger on Gary’s face would be priceless.

you know what I would find funny? Let’s say the NHL scares away Bailsillie with an outrageous relocation fee. The NHL then holds an auction of the Phoenix Coyotes with the stipulation that the new owner must keep the team in Phoenix. As a result, there are no takers. That would be funny!

Balsillie doesn’t scare - he’s got more money that sense!! If Phoenix fails, there’s always Florida!

sometimes I wonder if Bettman truly believes that he is doing what is best for the league. Is he delusional or is he simply a man who refuses to admit that he made a mistake? There’s a difference between the two.

When does Bettman’s contract expire? By the looks of things we are stuck with this manupilative prick until his contract expires. After Judge Baum delivered his verdict yesterday, the fans lost once again. I hope you are proud of yourself Gary… you heaping PIECE OF SHIT

When are you Canadians going to figure it out! Balsillie is not a good person. He has struck out three times! How many chances does a guy need. If he wants a team so bad, then start your own league. It’s so funny how your sport needs the United States to succeed. It’s really sad. Plus Canada rips the US! I dont get it. But if we were in a war, who would you call first to help you -THE USA! Don’t forget!

Obviously Canada can’t handle another team or else Winnipeg and Quebec would still be there.

Actually, the first one’s we’d ask for help would be Great Britain, if we were in a war. It’s this thing with the Commonwealth… you know. We beat your asses in 1812… remember?

NHL FUN FACT

Perhaps the oldest (from 1917) and most bitter rivalry in the NHL is between the English-speaking Toronto Maple Leafs and the French-speaking Montreal Canadiens.
